Make it a goal to keep your child reading over the summer using this simple Summer Reading Challenge. Featuring 10 easy to use pages, kids can record the books they've read and the minutes they've spent reading, as well as writing their thoughts on some of their favorites.
Listen, you don't want to make them fill out a full page for each book. That would kill the joy in reading really quickly. But pick out a few (or better yet, let them pick out a few), and have them write down some notes about the book, what they liked about it, and the overall plot. It's a great way to keep their skills sharp over the summer and prevent the big slide that happens to so many kids over the summer.
